When the forecast says the wind will be with you for the day, it is frequently wrong, when the forecast is for headwinds and gale force winds, it is usually correct. We had a gale forecast: a shift from northerly fresh winds to an easterly gale. Almost level with the nuclear power station, this dramatic front flew over us, a minute or so later the gale hit us from the east - force 6 winds - like being hit from the side by a truck. Our plans to go out and around the power station lagoon was quickly revised as we battled our way to shore. Lunch was on a rocky sea wall in the lee of the gale, our view, the picturesque nuclear plant.
