Sweden bites: ticks, mosquitoes horseflies, snakes and midges. When the ground thaws and the plants break out in lush foliage, the creatures multiply and they all need feeding. Ticks are best kept at bay by a bracing dip in the sea every evening (well most!), mosquitoes require a bit of persuasion with mygga lotion and horseflies just need a good whack. Saw a snake and a toad on one island but toads don't bite and snakes are very shy.
